The Executive Secretariat of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) was honored to welcome a high-level delegation from FemWise-Africa, led by Her Excellency the Honorable Justice Effie Owuor, President of FemWise-Africa and eminent member of the Panel of the Wise of the African Union.<\/p>\n\n

This courtesy visit is part of the official launch of the activities of the President of FemWise-Africa, and reflects a shared desire to strengthen synergies between African peace and security mechanisms.<\/p>\n\n

Discussions focused on the strategic role of women in conflict prevention and resolution processes, in particular their increased involvement in mediation, negotiation and peace-building in the Sahel-Saharan region. Discussions also highlighted the importance of promoting the inclusive participation of women as key players in stability and social cohesion.<\/p>\n\n

Particular emphasis was placed on the project to launch FemWise Chad, which aims to structure and strengthen the capacities of women mediators at national level, in line with the African Union’s continental initiatives.<\/p>\n\n

The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore the prospects for closer collaboration between the African Union and CEN-SAD, particularly in the fields of preventive diplomacy and mediation.<\/p>\n\n
