The transnational learning and experience-sharing symposium on the climate-conflict nexus and its impact on children’s lives came to a close on Tuesday June 17, 2025 in N’djaména (Chad).
At the closing ceremony, participants agreed to finalize the review of the CEN-SAD framework for action on child protection and well-being, which could serve as a basis for advocacy and mobilization of member states and partners around this objective. The participants also adopted a declaration, underlining the importance of Member States taking note of the seriousness of the problem affecting children’s well-being.
The Executive Secretary of CEN-SAD and the Executive Director of the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote collaboration between the two institutions on projects and programs for children in the Sahelo-Saharan region.
The participants welcomed the enriching exchanges during the two days of work and encouraged CEN-SAD to continue its leadership in highlighting this issue and ensuring the implementation of adequate and coordinated responses, taking into account the various dimensions of the impact of climate and security on children’s well-being.
