The Executive Secretariat of CEN-SAD has learned with deep
consternation of the terrorist attack perpetrated on the night of
29/01/2026 at Niamey’s Diori Hamani International Airport,
by a group of assailants, with the clear intention of carrying out
destruction and attacking the Defense and
Security Forces stationed there.
The Executive Secretariat of CEN-SAD strongly condemns these
cowardly and barbaric attacks and salutes the prompt reaction of the
security forces, who were able to thwart this destabilization plan
undertaken by these terrorist groups, by neutralizing all the
elements who ventured there.
CEN-SAD reiterates its firm rejection of terrorism in all its
forms, and offers its full support to the Nigerien authorities in
their fight against this phenomenon, and more generally to all
member states of the community space, often affected
by these terrorist attacks against the Armed Forces and the
innocent populations.
