The Executive Secretary at the 2025 World Summit of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) in Seoul (Republic of Korea)

His Excellency Ado ELHADJI ABOU, Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), took part this April 11, 2025 in the work of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) World Summit 2025 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, a high-level meeting that brought together world leaders, Representatives of International Organizations, Presidents of National Assemblies, parliamentarians, experts and civil society actors to lead reflections on the Theme: “Contemporary challenges to world order: establishing a new era of peace and prosperity”.

On this occasion, the Executive Secretary gave an important speech highlighting the situation of the world, which is going through a phase of profound turbulence, marked by an upsurge in tensions and armed conflicts, an alarming rise in inequalities, the devastating effects of climate change, and increasingly worrying geopolitical fragmentation.

The Executive Secretary also pointed out that, in the face of transnational conflicts and geopolitical fractures, traditional diplomacy is no longer enough. Regional mediation must be strengthened, multilateral institutions modernized, and peace anchored in societies.

The Executive Secretary highlighted the objectives of CEN-SAD as set out in its mandate, namely peace, regional security, development and regional integration, for the prosperity of member states and the well-being of the populations of the Sahel-Saharan region.

The convergence of the objectives of these summits with the Community’s missions was the basis of the partnership between UPF and CEN-SAD.

During the proceedings of this 2025 summit, the Executive Secretary and the Representative of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) signed memorandums for the implementation of the CEN-SAD Regional Youth Program.
